H.Y.P.E. Summer Camp

The Helping Youth Pursue Excellence (HYPE) Summer Camp in Sumter, South Carolina, is an enriching program committed to promoting personal growth and academic success for local youth. Hosted at the M.H. Newton Family Life Enrichment Center at 415 Manning Avenue, the camp provides a diverse range of activities aimed at enhancing the overall development of its participants. Recognized as the “Best Summer Camp” in The Item's “Best of” Contest for multiple years, HYPE continues to be a premier choice for summer enrichment.

Today the program has a total of 10 sites which serve children in the city and county of Sumter. Prior to the Pandemic, H.Y.P.E served approximately 450 students.

Program Overview

HYPE Summer Camp serves children ages 6-13, offering a safe, engaging, and supportive environment throughout the summer. For a weekly fee of $35 per child, campers can strengthen their skills in reading, writing, and STEM while also enjoying a variety of recreational activities and weekly field trips. The program also provides nutritious meals and snacks, ensuring a well-rounded experience that nurtures both the mind and body. HYPE Summer Camp is a shining example of Sumter's commitment to youth development, delivering a comprehensive program that fosters both academic and personal growth.
